YOU CAN TURN A CONCEPT SHEET INTO A RIGGED GAME HERO WITH 16 ANIMATIONS NOW. ON HIS BIKE IN UNDER AN HOUR
a noir detective made of bricks: hat, glowing goggles, trench coat, wrist grapple, and a 1940s cruiser bike. both 3d models cost $1.20
here's the workflow:
- step 1: make a concept sheet of the hero and the bike: front, side, back
- step 2: opus 5.5 cuts clean views out of the sheets and fixes what you don't want. the c-shaped hands became block mittens
- step 3: tripo turns the views into two textured 3d models, 60 credits each
- step 4: opus opens them in blender and splits the fused shell into body, arms, legs, coat and scarf
- step 5: rig it with the same 24 bone names as the hero it replaces, so the game code never notices the swap
- step 6: carry the 16 clips over, idle, run, jump, glide, 3 punches, grapple, ride and hat tip among them
- step 7: tripo only modelled the half of each tyre you can see, so opus swapped in brick wheels that spin in the game
- step 8: ride check: hands on the grips, boots on the footboards, measured in the file
who does what:
concept sheets: the target
tripo: the two models
opus 5.5: cleanup, rig, animation, checks
blender: scene and export
the real cost: my first try had opus build the whole cast out of brick06, and the hero looked like a toy robot. the tripo route: $1.20 forthe models, 22 minutes for rig and animation
keep the bone names when you swap a model and nothing in your game breaks
