Claude Opus 5.5 can turn your Halloween costume photo into a playable game character

The costume lasted one night. The usual way to keep it around is a commission from a 3D artist, and this one starts with a photo that's already in your camera roll

It sounds like it shouldn't work. A party photo is dark, the pose is dramatic, and half the outfit is a cape and a plastic sword. But every step from "photo" to "playable" now has its own tool, and Claude Opus 5.5 is the part that connects them into one evening of work

The one thing to know before you start: props break the mesh. Capes, swords and anything covering the body turn into melted geometry, so you take them off first and give them back later

Here's how it works:

an image model redraws your photo as a front-facing A-pose character sheet without the cape and sword, and Claude writes that prompt so the face and outfit stay yours
Meshy or Tripo turns the sheet into a 3D model on the free tier and exports it as a GLB
auto-rigging gives your costume a real skeleton, so it stops standing there like a statue
five clips are enough to feel alive: idle, walk, run, jump and one move that fits the costume
Claude Code drops the file into a small Three.js street with a follow camera and controls

The cape and sword come back too. Generate them as their own small models and ask Claude to snap them to the hand and chest bones, so they show up in the game as pickups

You can use it for a mini game your friends play the morning after the party, a group costume where everyone gets their own character, or your kid's costume that they can still play with next October

If your friends are in the photo, ask them before you turn them into NPCs

What was your costume this year, and would it survive the A-pose?
