Simon Willison通过实测对比不同模型的游戏开发能力,指出vibe coding已成为游戏制作拐点。
Four browser games, none over four hours of his own work.
Simon Willison wrote on October 28 that October 2026 is the inflection point for vibe coding games, the way November 2025 was for coding agents. He credits Claude Opus 5.5 getting better at 3D modeling, music generation and above all game design.
His best one is Battle Drones, a Command and Conquer style strategy game. It started on Claude Fable 5 in July. Opus 5.5 ported it to three.js, and after he asked it to make the game a LOT more fun, it got much better. It now has multiplayer for 2 to 4 players over a WebSocket relay, seven maps, replays and LLM versus LLM matches. It's out under Apache 2.0, and Gabriel Turpin already forked it into a steampunk version called Panache.
His farming sim took Opus 5.5 Ultracode nearly two days and millions of tokens. He says it still isn't as fun as Battle Drones.
He says GPT 6 Astra isn't quite there on fun yet, though he hasn't tested it thoroughly. He also points at the complaints about AI slop at Steam Next Fest.
His stack is static hosting, three.js and Phaser. In his words: "Building games that play well is shockingly easy now."
What game idea would you try first if a playable version took one evening?
